Late Inning Drama

The Eagles-Majors game Friday took 8 innings to decide the outcome. Behind the hitting of Tommy Sklopan and Patrick Athey(3 hits each) and the pitching of Cayman Hatton(6 K's), the Eagles took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the 5th. After Mt Vernon tied the score, pinch hitter Daniel Plunkett single and scored the go ahead run on a two out single by Athey in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the seventh the Majors tied it up again. In the eight, lead off batter Max Miller singled and scored of Eric Greenlaw's sacrifice fly. Eagles 7-6. But in the bottom of the 8th Mt. V loaded the bases with 3 walks and won the game with a walk of 2 run single. Mount Vernon 8 Edison 7.
